Set your sights high for 2008 & make it a year to remember

Forget about New Year resolutions, go for broke and set yourself some meaningful goals for 2008. Banish from your mind the self satisfying promises you make every year, lose weight, drink less, be a good person etc.

Now is the time to take matters into your own hands and identify what you want to achieve next year. I recommend a good starting point is to review what happened in your life in the past 12 months. Identify what you would like to change, improve and continue, along with new things to achieve. Just break last year into sections, 12 monthly sections or 4 periods of 3 month sections. Now write down 3 things that stand out in your life for each period, this should generate ample fodder to help you set priorities and forge stimulating goals for 2008.

Remember, some golden rules when setting goals, a good goal needs to be: precise, reasonable, achievable and measurable for it to qualify as a good goal. Another truth is “what gets measured gets done”, it’s always a good idea to publish your goals within your support circle, this will add some pressure to perform and may generate some surprising reactions, supportive behaviors and encouragement from loved ones friends and co workers..

So, in between bouts of festive cheer this holiday invest some time into crafting an agenda and some goals for 2008, go on make it a year to remember.
